Like live-resin, live-rosin is a solid form of THC rich cannabis extracts that is produced using fresh or freeze-dried marijuana instead of dried and cured material. This allows for the extraction of some cannabinoids and terpenes that are otherwise lost, or transformed, during the drying process. The main difference is that live-resin is extracted using solvents where live-rosin is extracted using water, then pressure and a bit of heat.
Live-rosin is sought after by many THC extract connoisseurs for its light but full-terpene taste profile and complete lack of solvents.
The process usually involves agitating fresh frozen cannabis flowers, or trim, in ice-water to dislodge the THC rich trichomes. The trichomes are then sieved out, cleaned of impurities, and dried into full-melt bubble hash. The full-melt hash is then pressed through a fine sieve, under low heat, to extract the final live-rosin.
Live-rosin is usually consumed by vaporizing, dabbing, or smoking. Low temperature dabbing or vaporizing generally offers the best taste experience.
Like all other cannabis extracts, a live-rosin's quality is directly related to the quality of the plant product used. The final purity of live-rosin is a compound effect of the quality and purity at every step of the extraction process. Most notably, high quality live-rosin is made using 5 or 6 stars full-melt bubble hash.
